Car Salvage
We see it every day that new cars are bought and the roads are getting crowded a bit more. So when we buy a new car what happens to the old one? Well, normally people sell them. But then how long can this continue. There would come a time when a car is too old or damaged that it is not fit to be driven on the roads, and then we contact people who are in car salvage business.
Car salvage could not be only a result of the cars age but it can also happen to new or younger cars. It works like this that if there is damage to the car for what ever reasons and circumstance it needs to be repaired. Normally, the insurance companies come into the picture at this juncture. The damage is evaluated and so is the market value or the insured amount. Depending upon the type of insurance undertaken and of course the prevailing laws of the state, it is seen it the cost of repair is more than 75% of the insured value or the pre-damage value it goes to the car salvage section. The slab can be anything between 50 to 75%.
Once the car joins the car salvage section it is either ripped off and anything that can be salvaged is done and then the residual is treat as scrap. On the other hand the insurance company may even decide to pay what ever claim it has to and hands over the salvaged car to the owner. Who can then decide to either sell it off to a car salvage dealer or even if he wants he can put in some money to the claim received and get the car repaired. Now, I don’t know many people who would do it but trust you me, out there, there are numerous such automobile enthusiasts who would disagree with me. On the contrary, these guys maybe working individually or as a company are always on a look-out for such cars that are under the car salvage umbrella. These cars are available at throw away prices. But, there is always a possibility of the working parts to be dismantled and reused in other cars. Car salvage could be very interesting too. Specially if there is a group that makes customised refurbished cars. Now, where do these guys get all the spares from? Not all the parts are readily available so they get into car salvage and source stuff that can be used directly or after few alterations. The result thus produced could be a marvel that may fetch very high prices too.
